‘Over the next four years, the people of Famalicão can count on an executive that is close, attentive and fully committed to their quality of life and to the future and development of our municipality.’ Mário Passos gave this assurance, Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, who on Thursday, at the end of the first meeting of the new municipal executive, presented his team and the distribution of portfolios.
Mário Passos retains the Housing portfolio, identified as one of the greatest challenges for municipal governance over the next four years, as well as the Urban Planning and Management portfolio. In this term of office, the mayor of Famalicão also takes on the portfolio of Environment and Carbon Neutrality and the new portfolio of Active Ageing. He also takes on the areas of Strategic Planning, Human Resources, Financial Management, Municipal Works, Municipal Governance and Urban Intelligence.
Hélder Pereira will combine the management of Legal Affairs, Security and Inspection with the new portfolio of Environmental Infrastructure and Waste Management.
Susana Pereira, a new face in the municipal executive, takes on the portfolios of Culture, Social Solidarity, Integrated Development, Volunteering, and Equality and Integration.
The portfolios of Parishes, Public Transport and Mobility, Markets and Fairs, Tourism and Youth will now fall under the remit of Augusto Lima, who also retains the portfolios of Economy and Entrepreneurship and Science and Technology.
Pedro Oliveira retains the portfolios of Sport and Associations and takes on the portfolios of Education and Health in this term of office.
Vânia Marçal, another new face in municipal government, takes on the portfolios of Civil Protection, Green Spaces and Forestry, Equipment Management and Maintenance, Public Space Management and Animal Welfare.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the council meeting, Mário Passos expressed his confidence that this new organisation of responsibilities will result in more efficient municipal management, closer to the needs of the people of Famalicão and capable of meeting the challenges of the future and the development of the municipality.
Mário Passos also reaffirmed his complete confidence in his team. ‘It is a team with proven experience and competence. We are motivated by the well-being of the people of Famalicão and the development of the municipality, which is what we will work towards.’
It should be noted that the municipal executive of Vila Nova de Famalicão is composed of eleven elected councillors, six from the PSD/CDS-PP coalition, four from the Socialist Party and one from Chega.
