Engenheiro Pinheiro Braga Avenue, on National Road 14, at the exit of Vila Nova de Famalicão towards Braga and the entrance in the opposite direction, will undergo requalification and duplication works as of next Monday, August 29, due to the urbanization works of the new subdivision that is being developed in the area, and that will make the city grow northwards, with new accessibilities and infrastructures.
The execution of the works foreseen in the first phase of the intervention will require the transfer of road traffic, in the direction Braga-Famalicão, to the existing parallel parking lane, while the movement in the direction Famalicão-Braga will be made through the lane currently used in the opposite direction.
This way, the current Famalicão-Braga lane will be free and available, and the widening and execution of the infrastructures planned for this stretch of the EN14 will begin, as well as the beginning of the phased construction of the roundabout between Engenheiro Pinheiro Braga Avenue and Seara Street.
The artery will be doubled with two lanes on each side, and a cycle track will be built on each side of the street, as well as pedestrian pavements and planting trees. The creation of two new roundabouts is also planned between the Santo António roundabout and the access roundabout to the East Variant, in Gavião.
Pinheiro Braga and 20 de Junho streets, to access the D. Maria II Basic School, and a new street will be built between the streets Gavião Real and S. Vicente.
The intervention will be executed by the main private promoter of the new urbanization that owns more than 81 thousand square meters of land in the place and that will cede almost 50% of that area for green area and accessibilities, besides executing the infrastructures, such as the requalification of the referred avenue.
