On Saturday, 8 November, the Municipal Pavilion of Vila Nova de Famalicão hosted the 11th edition of Famalicão Dança, an event dedicated to national and international dance sport competition, organised by Academia Gindança with the support of the City Council.
The event, attended by Mário Passos, Mayor, and Pedro Oliveira, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Sport, included the Under-21 World Championship in 10 Dances, an official competition awarded by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), and brought together 30 national champions from 17 different countries. Kristupas Mlinskas & Liepa Rudnickaite, from Lithuania, were the big winners of the night, after several rounds that thrilled the audience.
Famalicão Dança also hosted the 6th and final round of the National Dance Sport Circuit, in Latin and standard, awarded by the Portuguese Dance Sport Federation (FPDD), which was attended by around 150 pairs from 30 national schools.
The 11th edition of Famalicão Dança also stood out for its reference to the bicentenary of the birth of the writer Camilo Castelo Branco, seeking to unite dance with literature and the cultural heritage of the municipality.
