The Camilo Castelo Branco Municipal Library in Famalicão has revamped its online portal to improve and facilitate access for its readers and the public to the library's services and resources.
Available at www.bibliotecacamilocastelobranco.org, the new website has a reserved area for users, which allows access to a range of features, such as the online book loan service, access to municipal digital libraries and thousands of documents, as well as faster consultation of online publications and access to digital catalogues, not only from the municipal library, but also from the different centres scattered throughout the municipality and school libraries.
‘It is a step into the digital world that was developed following the structural renovation of the building, which we reopened in 2023 and which brings the library closer to the public,’ explained the Mayor, Mário Passos, at the presentation of the portal's renovation, held on Friday, 9 January.
The data reveals a significant increase in the number of visitors, registered readers, book loans and public participation in the municipal library's many activities.
‘It reflects the interest in the services and collection we have in the library, and the renovation of the portal is part of a process of modernisation and adaptation to bring the space closer to readers and the public,’ added the mayor.
The website is more intuitive, functional and responsive, with a set of tools that seek to transport the services and dynamics of the Camilo Castelo Branco Municipal Library to the digital universe.
