The expansion and renovation works at Seide Primary School will begin shortly and, during this intervention, classes will be held in temporary facilities located on land adjacent to the iconic Casa de Camilo, currently used as a car park. The temporary building will be erected next Monday, 19 January, and the move is expected to take place at the end of the second term, just after the Easter school holidays.
The public school, which currently serves more than 60 primary school pupils, will thus operate temporarily in the space located between Rua de São Miguel and Rua Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in a modular building that includes four classrooms, a canteen, a staff room, toilets and a technical area.
It should be noted that the intervention at Seide Primary School will result from a municipal investment of around €1.3 million, with a completion deadline of 12 months. The project involves the restoration of the existing century-old building and the expansion of the school's facilities through the construction of a new two-storey building, which includes four classrooms, support rooms, a staff room, a canteen (with its own meal production facilities), toilets and a storage room, as well as the reorganisation of the surrounding space to create a covered playground, a sports area, an educational vegetable garden and green spaces.
It should be noted that several modernisation works are currently underway in the schools of the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, notably at the Padre Benjamim Salgado Secondary School (Joane), the Senador Sousa Fernandes School (Famalicão), the Delães Kindergarten and the Brufe Primary School, which together represent a municipal investment of over €25 million.
