The tradition was upheld and the municipal family of Vila Nova de Famalicão once again entered the New Year with a moment of fellowship, sharing and unity at the traditional Epiphany feast held on Monday, 5 January, in Ribeirão.
Joy and good cheer dominated what is one of the initiatives most cherished by the municipality's local authorities.
This year, because of the new municipal cycle, there were many new faces present. This was the case for Alexandra Silva, serving her first term as head of the Pedome Parish Council, who praised the team spirit that exists among all the local authorities in the municipality. ‘It is a time for socialising, but also for learning and getting to know each other, as we take advantage of the fact that we are all together to understand the dynamics of the other parishes,’ she said.
Leonel Rocha, president of the Ribeirão Parish Council and host of the evening, also shared this opinion. ‘We are all in the same boat, we all work for the development of the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, and moments like this always help to reinforce this feeling of belonging and teamwork.’
The Mayor, Mário Passos, took the opportunity to remind everyone that 2026 will be the year in which the City Council will make available to the people of Famalicão many of the investments that are currently underway throughout the municipality, pointing to the Family Health units that are currently undergoing renovation or construction as an example.
The Mayor of Famalicão also recalled that 2026 will begin with the already announced 20% increase in the funds transferred to the parishes. "We will continue to work side by side with all local executives. Only in this way will we be able to achieve our goals and only in this way will we be able to achieve what we so desire and work for every day: the development of our parishes, the development of Vila Nova de Famalicão and the well-being and happiness of all Famalicenses."
