The ‘Proximity Presidency’ took the Mayor, Mário Passos, to Louro, continuing his tour of the different parishes in the municipality, in contact with the population and visiting investments made.
Accompanied by the Mayor, Manuel Silva, Mário Passos began by visiting the D. Elzira Cupertino de Miranda crèche and kindergarten, a Private Social Solidarity Institution dedicated to children, which hosted the mayors for lunch.
"On this tour we try to be close and get to know the institutions and the business world. And in Louro we have several benchmarks, such as the crèche and Louropel, the largest button factory in the world, which produces for the world's leading designer brands, with product quality, innovation and sustainability," said Mário Passos.
In terms of investment, the mayor emphasised the completion of the requalification works in Comendador Costa e Sá and Artur Fernandes da Costa streets and the intervention in António Martins Oliveira Barros street, where the municipality will replace the wastewater and rainwater network. ‘It's around 286,000 euros of investment in the road network in Louro, an example that has been replicated throughout the municipality, with work done, which naturally translates into better conditions for those who live and work here.’
The day ended with the usual meeting with the parish's associative movement, which revealed the need to replace the pitch at the Grupo Desportivo do Louro playing field, and to improve the spaces of the Scout Group, the FNA and the 9:15 Mountain Bike Association.
‘This is always a very productive meeting, where we try to find the best solutions for the needs of the associations and institutions that play an extremely important role in building community dynamics,’ said Mário Passos.
