The Chapel of Santa Luzia, in the Famalicense parish of Requião, now has a renovated churchyard. The completion of the work, which is part of the first phase of the total refurbishment of Largo de Santa Luzia, was marked last Friday, 8 December, the day of the Immaculate Conception, during a morning of conviviality for the people of Requião.
The mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, attended the inaugural session and emphasised the fact that the space was "more welcoming, more beautiful and more functional". "Works like this bring people together and strengthen community ties," commented the mayor, who also left a word of appreciation for the work carried out by the Festival Committee, the Parish Council and the Parish.
It should be noted that this first phase of the refurbishment of Largo de Santa Luzia received municipal support totalling 93 thousand euros. The improvement work involved demolishing the existing pavements and kerbs, paving the carriageway and making a pavement, creating a new pedestrian path to the Chapel of Santa Luzia and aligning the existing cross.
