More road safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists and more traffic flow. This is the aim with the construction of a new roundabout on the Intermunicipal Road (VIM) linking to Mogege, with exits to Monte Malvar, Joane (east) and the church of Mogege (west).
The work got underway yesterday, Monday 12th May, with the signing of the contract signature by the Town Council and the company responsible for the work, Pavimogege, and involves a municipal investment of 623 thousand euros.
‘This is a necessary and long-desired project. We want everyone who passes through VIM every day to do so more safely and without major constraints,’ said the Mayor, Mário Passos, who places road safety and the reduction of accidents as key points for the construction of the new roundabout. ‘We want to give the people of Mogege a better quality of life, which is why we will also see urban development throughout the surrounding area,’ he added.
The president of the Mogege Parish Council, Carlos Lima, was also pleased with the start of the project. ‘We're very pleased with the construction of this long-desired roundabout,’ he said, also thanking the town council “for carrying out this work, which will certainly be an asset for Mogege”.
It should be remembered that the work has a deadline of 120 days and may cause some traffic constraints.
