The Mayor, Mário Passos, has been touring the municipality over the last few weeks as part of his “Proximity Presidency” itinerary, and this Tuesday, 20 May, he was in Mogege.
His visit to the parish began at the Boca do Monte Kindergarten and Primary School, where the school’s pupils, teachers and assistants joined him at lunch. ‘As mayor I have favoured this close contact with people, on the ground, listening and discussing projects that add to the quality of life for everyone,’ said Mário Passos.
Accompanied by parish council president Carlos Lima, the mayor stopped off at Perfil Cromático, a company dedicated to finishing, bleaching and dyeing textile fibres, yarns, fabrics, clothing and textile articles, which he pointed to as another example of success in a market as competitive as the textile and clothing industry.
During his tour of the parish, Mário Passos also checked out a number of ongoing investments, including the construction of the new roundabout on the Intermunicipal Road (VIM) linking to Mogege, with exits to Monte Malvar, in Joane (east) and to the church in Mogege, work that was recently consigned and is already underway. It's an investment of 623,000 euros and a project that has long been demanded by the population. ‘We've been asking for this work for a long time, which will improve safety and access to the parish,’ said the chairman of the parish council, Carlos Lima.
Recently, the municipality also acquired a plot of land next to the church, where the parish's future recreational and leisure park will be built, ‘a space that will serve the community in the same way as we've been doing all over the municipality,’ said Mário Passos. The construction of the Mortuary Chapel is another ongoing investment that is already being finalised. The work received municipal support totalling more than 230 thousand euros.
Also noteworthy is the increased coverage of the wastewater network in the parish, in Rua Penedo da Moura, Travessa Pedre António Ferreira and do Côvo and in Praça de Santa Marinha.
The mayors also visited the headquarters of the scout group and the Carril Sports Association and met with the parish's associative movement and institutions. ‘This dialogue is always very fruitful and gives us the opportunity to listen to people, fulfilling the purpose of the route: to feel the territory,’ said Mário Passos.
