Brufe's kindergarten and primary school will be replaced by the parish's new school centre, the construction of which began this Monday, June 2, with the signing of the contract by the town council and the company responsible for the work, Cálculos & Títulos Construções.
The new school building will be built in Rua dos Tanques, next to the current Parish Council premises, and involves a municipal investment of 3 million euros.
"We want children to have good conditions in which to learn, study and play, and to do so happily. We are sure that this work will be beneficial for both the pupils and the educational community," said Mário Passos, the mayor of Famalicão yesterday, pointing out that the parish's future green park will also be built next to the new school.
Carlos Gomes, president of the Brufe Parish Council, was pleased with the progress of the project, which will bring the entire educational community together in a single space. ‘We've been looking forward to this project for 12 years and it's with great satisfaction that it's progressing today on the ground we wanted,’ he said.
It should be remembered that the construction of the new Brufe School Centre, which has applied to the Norte 2030 Regional Programme, in addition to the two activity rooms, the preschool expressions room and extension room and the four 1st cycle classrooms, will also have common spaces such as atriums, a library, a canteen, playgrounds (with and without roofs), a playing field and a vegetable garden. Teachers and assistants will have at their disposal a pantry, a teachers' room, an office, among others.
The work will be completed within 480 days, for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
