Famalicão's Antonine Festivities are full of music, dance, gastronomy and tradition. From 6 to 13 June, the streets of the city will be filled with colour, in a festive and fun atmosphere where sport will also take place.
In collaboration with the Braga Athletics Association, the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão is promoting the 14th Bernardino Machado Athletics Grand Prix, which will take place on 8 June.
The starting gun will be fired at 10h00, with the start and finish line in Rua Padre Benjamim Salgado, next to the Famalicão Youth Park. The race includes a 10-kilometre run and a 6-kilometre walk.
Registration is free and takes place at www.famalicaodesportivo.pt and www.aabraga.pt, or in person at the Municipal Swimming Pool Complex and Casa da Cultura (Rua Direita) until 5 June.
Athletes representing clubs, communities, grassroots organisations, companies and individuals, federated or non-federated, in the Junior, Senior and Veteran age groups can take part in the race.
The regulations for the 14th Bernardino Machado Athletics Grand Prix are available for consultation at the registration centres and the routes can be found at www.famalicaodesportivo.pt.
The Antoninas sports programme also includes the 1st Antoninas International Roller Hockey Tournament, which will take place at the Famalicão Municipal Pavilion from 6 to 8 June, organised by Famalicense Atlético Clube. 25 teams will be taking part, both national and foreign, from five age groups (U7/9, U11, U13, U15 and U17).
On 6 June, motor sports will be in the spotlight at the 32nd Raid Antoninas, organised by CAF - Clube Aventura Famalicão. The start is scheduled for 20h00, on the ground next to the fairground, on Avenida Rebelo Mesquita. The initiative ends the following day at 17h30.
On Saturday 7th, at 10am, sport and solidarity come together in the Rugby 7's Tournament, to be held at the GRAL Playing Field in Avidos. Entry is free.
On the same day, the Parque da Juventude hosts Famalicão Street Basket 3x3, a basketball tournament organised by FamaBasket. Teams will compete in the U13, U15, U17 and senior men's and women's age groups, each of which must have a minimum of four teams registered.
Registration is free at https://famabasket.pt/torneio-3x3-antoninas-2025/ and closes on 6 June. The tournament is scheduled to start at 9h00 on 7 June and will last two days depending on the number of teams registered.
On Saturday morning, the Terras de Vermoim Municipal Pavilion will host Basket Cup 2025, a basketball tournament organised by ATC - Associação Teatro Construção, starting at 10h00.
On Sunday 8 June, the Final National Triplet - Petanque will be played at the old Novais Primary School at 10am, with the closing ceremony scheduled for 9 June.
The José da Costa Rodrigues Sports Complex in Lagoa is hosting the 2nd GRAL Athletics Kids Grand Prix, organised by the Avidos and Lagoa Recreational Group with the support of the Town Council, the Avidos and Lagoa Parish Council and the Braga Athletics Association. The race is scheduled to start at 10am on 10 June. Registration is free and is already underway at www.fpacompeticoes.pt.
With the aim of showcasing the São Marçal mill in Esmeriz, the 2nd Antonino Time Trial has a new 3 kilometre route to discover the surrounding walkway. The initiative, organised by the Mont Blue Team Sports Association, takes place on June 10 at 15h00. Entries cost 4 euros and can be made on the website https://sinctime.com/evento/367 until 6 June.
