The requalification of Famalicão's Public Security Police (PSP) station is going ahead and the expectation is that the work will be on site by mid-2024.
At its meeting on Thursday 21 December, the municipal executive approved the conditions for launching the public tender for the contract, which has a base price of almost 1.6 million euros and an estimated execution time of 450 days.
"After so many years, I feel like saying: at last," said Mário Passos, mayor of Famalicão, recalling the cooperation contract signed in May between the City Council, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the PSP, which ensures this investment will allow for the much-needed and demanded rehabilitation of the building, which is already around 30 years old and showing signs of disrepair.
"The most important thing for us is to have the work on the ground and we know that if the City Council goes ahead with the work, we can save time here. Above all, it's important to create the best conditions for the officers who work there and I believe that in the end we'll have a building that is more functional and adapted to the needs of the police forces in order to better serve the population," he added.
The project involves the complete remodelling of the building. Among the work planned, we highlight the remodelling of various spaces that will, for example, make it possible to move the citizen service area to the front of Avenida 25 de Abril.
