The Famalicão Secondary Education Fair runs until Thursday 12 March and was visited this morning a visit from the Mayor, Mário Passos, who emphasised the need for students and families to gain a detailed understanding of the educational provision available in the municipality, particularly that offered by vocational education,
“which is currently undergoing a paradigm shift” with the implementation of eight Specialised Technology Centres (CTE) in the municipality.
“The most specialised and qualified education is also the one that corresponds to higher salary levels,” the mayor of Famalicão also highlighted, revealing that the average salary in Vila Nova de Famalicão has been rising and is already well above that of other municipalities in the district.
The mayor emphasised that the municipality offers good career prospects in sectors such as the automotive industry, precision metalworking, technical textiles and the agri-food sector. With a planned investment of over 700 million euros to strengthen the business sector in the coming years, Mário Passos assured that Vila Nova de Famalicão has the capacity to train even more students, consolidating its position as the country’s third-largest exporting municipality and creating an ecosystem that guarantees employability and a future for the young people of Famalicão.
It should be noted that, in this edition, the Secondary Education Fair brings together 13 educational institutions offering a range of 39 courses, comprising four in the scientific and humanities fields and 35 in vocational fields, covering areas ranging from Arts and Design to Metalworking Technologies, IT, Health and Management Support. One of the new features is the direct involvement of around a dozen companies in organising the activities, which provide students with practical insight into the realities of the job market and the various fields of work.
