The City Council of Vila Nova de Famalicão will award 356 scholarships during the 2025–2026 academic year to young people from Famalicão who are enrolled in higher education.
The measure, which involves a municipal investment of 200,000 euros, is one of the items under review at this Thursday’s municipal executive meeting, March 26, and stems from the evaluation of the 601 applications submitted. Once the review process was completed, the final list of scholarship recipients to be supported this academic year was determined.
In total, 356 young people from Famalicão will benefit this year from the scholarships awarded annually by the municipality with the aim of providing better conditions for attending higher education, motivating, and valuing the education of young people in the municipality.
The grants awarded range from 500 to 1,000 euros. 237 recipients will receive a grant of 500 euros, 65 students will receive 600 euros, and 2 students will receive 700 euros. There are also 36 scholarships awarded for 750 euros, 9 in the amount of 850 euros, 2 of 950 euros, and 5 students will receive 1,000 euros.
“The City Council will continue to support families in the municipality and our young people in their education and training,” says Mário Passos, mayor of the City Council, adding that this is “good news on this National Student Day.”
It should be noted that for over ten years, the Famalicão City Council, through its Youth Department, has annually awarded scholarships to students in the municipality pursuing higher education. Since 2020, approximately 2,300 students have benefited from this support, resulting in a municipal investment of 1.2 million euros.
