The Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão is once again committed to nurturing young people’s potential with a new edition of the Young Talent Grants, a programme that encourages creativity, innovation and the development of skills among young people in the municipality.
Aimed at young people aged between 16 and 35 who have been residents and/or students in Vila Nova de Famalicão for at least three years, this initiative aims to support individual projects that promote personal and professional growth, preferably in a national or international context, with the aim of stimulating the development of young talent and creativity, promoting personal, social and vocational skills, and establishing Vila Nova de Famalicão as a hub of innovation and talent.
With a total budget of €15,000, municipal support can reach €1,500 per project, covering areas such as the environment, culture, architecture, science, technology, social sciences, the arts and health.
“It is an incentive we offer our young people to enhance their training and skills, with the commitment that they too will give back this increased knowledge through initiatives in the local area,” emphasises the Mayor, Mário Passos, noting that one of the key principles of this programme is that the young people supported should also develop initiatives that contribute to the development of the Famalicão region.
Over the past year, four applications were approved in the fields of Culture, Education and Science, enabling young people from Famalicão to take part in activities at the London Music College, as well as to participate in the International Women’s Forum organised by the European Youth Parliament, held in Bonn, Germany, and the Nephrology Congress, held in Vienna, Austria, and also to support the “À Deriva” contemporary circus programme, with a total investment of around 5,000 euros.
Applications for the new round of funding under the Young Talent Grants scheme are now open, with the full application process available on the Famalicão Municipal Youth Portal at www.juvetudefamalicao.org, where the rules, forms and further information about the programme can be found.
