Vila Nova de Famalicão is displaying the best the municipality has to offer at the 36th edition of BTL – Lisbon Tourism Fair, which runs from today, 25 February, until 1 March, at the Lisbon International Fair (FIL) in Parque das Nações.
As part of the municipal strategy to promote the region, the municipality is focusing on culture, literary tourism and food and wine as its main attractions to capture the attention of national and international visitors.
The highlight of Famalicão's representation is scheduled for tomorrow, 26 February, at 3 pm, in the auditorium of the Regional Tourism Authority of Porto and North, with the presentation of the project ‘Camillo – Rotas do Escritor’ (Camillo – The Writer's Routes). This initiative aims to consolidate Famalicão as a leading destination for literary tourism, highlighting the historical heritage of Camilo Castelo Branco.
The excellence of local products will also be highlighted with a wine tasting by producer Vinevinu and a show cooking event dedicated to Galinha Mourisca, a dish mentioned in Camilo Castelo Branco's work ‘O Santo da Montanha’ (The Saint of the Mountain), which will be prepared by Chef Renato Cunha, from Restaurante Ferrugem.
The presence in Lisbon extends beyond the BTL venue. As part of the celebrations of the bicentenary of Camilo Castelo Branco's birth, Rossio Station is hosting the travelling exhibition ‘Livro Aberto – Camillo: Rotas do Escritor’ (Open Book – Camillo: The Writer's Routes) until 8 March. The official opening of the exhibition will take place this Wednesday, 25 February, at 5 pm, with the presence of the municipality's Councillor for Tourism, Augusto Lima.
With this set of initiatives, Vila Nova de Famalicão reaffirms its commitment to promoting the region, projecting itself as a tourist destination of excellence that combines literary tradition with gastronomic innovation.
