The Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, yesterday announced that the first raffle for the allocation of affordable rental housing will be held in April.
At the end of a day dedicated to housing issues and after visiting some of the construction sites for new housing units in various parts of the municipality, Mário Passos expressed his satisfaction that the deadlines for completion of the works are being met and took the opportunity to announce the date of the draw for the first homes.
‘We now have everything in place to ensure that, in April, we will hold the first draw to allocate the first few dozen homes,’ announced the mayor. ‘This is great news for Famalicão, but essentially for the people of Famalicão who will be able to benefit from these new homes,’ he concluded.
The mayor's journey took him to Telhado, Castelões, Delães and Oliveira Santa Maria, where 117 of the more than 200 homes currently under construction under the 1st Right programme are being built, resulting from an investment of €27 million co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
It should be noted that all these homes are intended for affordable rental, a new segment of public housing in the municipality.
Applications for the housing allocation lottery can be submitted online at viver.famalicao.pt, or in person, by prior appointment with the Municipal Housing Division.
Mário Passos also said that around 170 households are already eligible for the housing raffle.
It should be noted that registration is mandatory for those who wish to apply for the housing raffle under the Housing Access Support Programme – 1st Right.
Eligibility criteria include having been a resident of the municipality for at least 3 years, living in substandard housing and being employed or retired/a pensioner. All criteria can be found in the registration notice, also available on the viver.famalicao.pt website.
It should be noted that the Famalicão local authority's commitment to the housing sector is being developed on several fronts, with responses that seek to solve the housing problems of Famalicão's residents, starting with the construction of new homes intended for rent to households whose income does not allow them to find housing solutions on the open rental market.
