This Thursday, 19 February, sees the launch of the new newsletter from Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipal Council. The publication has been given a facelift and features a number of new developments. In addition to a new design and format, the newsletter published by the local authority will now be issued every two months and will be called “efe”.
These changes are also evident in its 24 pages, where the residents of Famalicão ‘will continue to find the latest news about municipal and local government activity,’ but where they will ‘above all find a publication that promotes the region,’ explains the Mayor, Mário Passos, in the text he signs at the beginning of the publication. ‘(A publication) in which we reveal the faces and stories of many other protagonists of our municipality's dynamism,’ he explains.
Efe will be delivered to the homes of Famalicão residents starting this week, with the ambition of being a space that reflects the capacity of the territory, the people and the projects that build the present and future of Vila Nova de Famalicão.
The title - efe - is naturally linked to the first letter of the name Famalicão, but it is also a symbol of the fibre, brilliance and strength that characterise the territory.
‘Efe asks permission to enter the homes of all Famalicenses, bringing them the strength of our territory through its pages. A strength that is not only measured by the great work we have been doing in the municipality, but which is also largely explained by the enormous collective effort of a community that works daily for the development and growth of Vila Nova de Famalicão,’ emphasises the mayor.
In the debut edition, the highlight is a conversation with Famalicense athlete Sofia Oliveira, who recently conquered the highest podium in world kickboxing in Abu Dhabi, in a first-person account of overcoming adversity and dedication.
The first issue also reveals the names of the Portuguese musicians who will be performing at this year's municipal festivities, explains the changes associated with the new waste collection service that will come into force in March, and follows up on ongoing structural investments, such as the new facilities for the São Miguel-o-Anjo Family Health Unit and the Public Security Police. There is also space to show the dynamics of the parishes give voice to citizens' opinions and learn about the production process of the traditional Vieira almonds.
With this new publication, the Municipality reinforces its commitment to inform, involve and value the community, projecting in each edition the portrait of a developing municipality. The first edition of efe is now available at https://issuu.com/municipiodefamalicao and marks the start of a project that aims to reflect, every two months, the identity and future of Vila Nova de Famalicão.
