Vila Nova de Famalicão will maintain its financial support for the municipality's emergency services, as confirmed by the proposals approved on Thursday, 12 February, at the municipal executive meeting.
The local authority, led by Mário Passos, will channel more than €777,000 to the municipality's three fire brigades - Bombeiros Voluntários de Famalicão, Bombeiros Voluntários Famalicenses and Bombeiros Voluntários de Riba de Ave - and to the Ribeirão branch of the Portuguese Red Cross.
The funds are intended to support effective, permanent and rapid emergency response to the population, patient transport and rescue, as well as the operation of the nine Permanent Intervention Teams (EIP) - three for each fire brigade. ‘This is support from the local authority for the daily activities of the fire brigades and a guarantee of emergency response, readiness in the prevention and fighting of fires and other disasters, which, as we have seen in recent days, is so important for the population,’ explains the Mayor, Mário Passos.
The first tranche of annual support allocated to the municipality's three fire brigades and the Ribeirão branch of the Portuguese Red Cross was approved at Thursday's executive meeting.
