Tomorrow, Tuesday, the City Council of Vila Nova de Famalicão will deliver more than 8,000 roof tiles to the districts of Leiria and Santarém for the reconstruction of homes affected last week by Storm Kristin.
After local and national authorities identified support in the form of construction materials, particularly roof tiles, as a priority, the Famalicão council decided to go ahead with the purchase/donation of 26 pallets of Portuguese F3 roof tiles.
The Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, expresses the solidarity of the Municipality of Famalicão with all the families, businesses and institutions affected by Storm Kristin and praises the spirit of solidarity shown by the entire Famalicão community, which has been actively collaborating in recent days to support the affected populations.
It should be remembered that the passage of the Kristin depression through mainland Portugal left a trail of destruction, especially in the central region of the country. The Portuguese Government announced yesterday the extension of the State of Calamity until 8 February. In total, 69 municipalities are in a state of calamity.
