Vila Nova de Famalicão is counting down to what promises to be the longest and liveliest night of the year, with the final details of the party already being finalised.
On the night of 16 February, the city is preparing to welcome thousands of revellers who will take to the streets to celebrate Carnival.
To ensure that no one is left out, the City Council is once again providing free bus transport throughout the municipality. A total of 12 bus routes will be available, departing from the parishes of Mogege, Pedome, Riba de Ave, Bairro, Ribeirão, Fradelos, Gondifelos, Nine, Portela, Nine, Jesufrei and Lousado at 9:45 p.m., 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., heading towards the city centre, where the festivities will continue until 4:30 a.m.
The return home is guaranteed with buses at 3:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., departing from Parque 1.º de Maio, in front of Escola Secundária D. Sancho I.
This year, the local authority is once again partnering with CP – Comboios de Portugal, which is offering a special return ticket for a single price of three euros. The ticket is valid on all Porto Urban Train lines and must be purchased between 2 and 14 February at CP ticket offices.
Vila Nova de Famalicão once again invites everyone to the most entertaining and spontaneous carnival celebrations in the country, on a unique night of revelry.
From 9 pm onwards, the city centre will be the epicentre of the party, with entertainment guaranteed in the streets, bars and restaurants, as well as on the four stages set up by the local authority, located on Rua Luís Barroso, Praça 9 de Abril, Praça D. Maria II and Praça – Mercado Municipal.
