The mayor of the North American city of Fort Collins, Jeni Arndt, ends today a three-day visit to Vila Nova de Famalicão, where she has been since last Wednesday to learn about the experience of the Portuguese city in the areas of sustainability, social participation and circular economy.
The American Mayor took the opportunity to visit several areas of the city - the Bus Station, recently renovated, the Municipal Market, the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, Camilo's House, the Famalicão Made IN Incubator installed in Riopele and CIEES - and exchange ideas and experiences on public policies and community actions in the areas of sustainability and circular economy.
The tour through the city of Famalicão started this Friday morning at Paços do Concelho for a guided tour through the building and a working meeting with the vice-president of the municipality, Ricardo Mendes.
At the end of the meeting, both highlighted "the fruitful cooperation relationship that has united the two cities" for five years, ensuring the continuity and strengthening of the bonds of friendship between Famalicão and Fort Collins.
It is recalled that after two years of cooperation, through the European Commission's International Urban Cooperation Programme (IUC), Vila Nova de Famalicão and Fort Collins decided to extend and deepen the partnership relationship in October 2020 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
