This Thursday, 23 April, marks the start of another edition of the Famalicão Book Fair. The event, part of the “Vai à Vila” urban markets organised by the Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipal Council, runs until Sunday 26 April, featuring a packed programme of activities and the participation of various local publishers and bookshops.
The first event of the initiative – a conversation with illustrator Raquel Costa – is scheduled for this Thursday morning (10h30). This will be followed, at 14h30, by the presentation of the book “Titão, o peixe que queria voar” by the author Ana Carvalho and, at the end of the day, at 18h00, the launch of the book “Governar é Comunicar”, by Famalicão-based communications consultant Custódio Oliveira.
On Friday the 24th, don’t miss the presentation of the book “O menino falado” by author Maria da Luz Fernandes at 10h30, the “Leituras Vivas” event organised by the (En)Volta dos Livros, at 14h30, and also the poetry concert “Fragmentos”, scheduled for 21h30, featuring Sandra Escudeiro and Vitor Mesquita.
The Book Market programme continues on Saturday, 25 April (a public holiday), with a reading workshop led by Rita Sineiro at 10h30, followed by the awards ceremony for the Municipal Round of the “CONVENCE-ME. Ave Reading Festival” at 15h00, followed by the presentation of the book “Quando o amor é para sempre” by the author Catarina Rodrigues and the Pausa para Ler Reading Club at 18h00, and a strong focus on local talent through the discussion “Voices of local literature”, starting at 21h30, bringing together Famalicão-based authors Ana Marques, Maria João Mesquita and Miguel Coelho.
On Sunday, 26 April, at 10h30, the Mandrágora Theatre and Puppet Company will present the show “Teatro de Robertos”. Author João Miguel Tavares will lead the closing of the Book Market, at 16h00, in a session moderated by Jorge Reis-Sá and focusing on the book “José Sócrates, a ascensão”.
The Famalicão Book Market will be open from 10h00 to 19h00 on Thursday and Sunday, extending its opening hours until 22h00 on Friday and Saturday.
