November 1975. Start of the second trial of Pierre Goldman, a French radical left activist. During his first trial, Goldman had been sentenced to life imprisonment for committing four armed robberies, two of which resulted in his death. After pleading not guilty to the latter charge, the trial became a famous case that reflected the political, ideological and racial tensions that marked the 1970s in Europe. Evasive and provocative, Goldman contributes to the media hype surrounding a case that divided the French state and fuelled the polarisation between the intellectual left and the conservative right.
