The eloquent and independent young Silvia is betrothed to Dorante, a young gentleman who is unanimously favoured by his family for his good character and handsome features. Silvia's maid, Lisete, incessantly entices her into the advantages of marriage and shared love, as does her father Orgonte, who is pleased with this union.  The game of love takes a twist when Silvia throws the consummation of this union into unpredictability by devising a meticulous plan that leads her to disguise herself as her maid Lisete, forcing her to disguise herself as Silvia, her employer. With this, the fearless young woman intends to observe her fiancé's pretensions with coolness and certainty. The game of deception thickens when we realise that Dorante has the same will and the same plan, which he will carry out with Harlequin, his servant. The Game of Love and Chance presents itself as a portrait of the aristocratic customs of its time in the voice of intervening characters, deeply marked by the feelings of melancholy and desire that outline this plot full of disguises, lies and deceit. French playwright Pierre Marivaux helps us to reflect on individual freedom and the challenging of customs, presenting us with this text in which luck, misfortune and chance form a relentless triad.
