Based on Ma Double Vie, Sarah Bernhardt's autobiography, DUPLA is a head-on clash between two apparently irreconcilable personalities: that of the experienced actress, who knows what theatre is all about, and that of the playwright/stage manager/creator/salesman who knows very little about theatre. But the stage is also a fertile incubator for these comically impossible situations, because to life, in addition to the two usually mentioned - death and taxes - a third fatality must be added: the premiere date. This has to be released, no matter what. And let this duo get on with it.
