The António Sampaio Leisure Park, which currently houses the Civil Protection Campus, in the parish of Bairro, will have an area purely for the community's enjoyment. The municipal investment, around 107 thousand euros, started with the requalification of the tennis court, followed by the installation of a new playground, next to the picnic park, and the construction of a car park, in a plot of land adjacent to the leisure park. Besides these facilities, the possibility of recovering the outdoor swimming pools of the António Sampaio Leisure Park is also being studied.
"It is a space with an enormous potential, which should be at the service of the population with all the proper conditions for the community to enjoy", says the Mayor, Mário Passos, during his visit to the parish of Bairro, yesterday afternoon, in the scope of the Roadmap of Presidency of Proximity.
Accompanied by the executive of the parish council, led by Rui Alves, the mayor also visited the facilities for the Continued Care Unit (UCC) Terras de Camilo, in the old building of the Primary School of Lagoços (Escola da Ferreirinha), where the CTT services are also installed.
The old primary school is being renovated to house a new Integrated Continued Care Team (ECCI), part of the National Network of Integrated Continued Care (RNCCI). The total rehabilitation of the old school building results from a municipal investment of around 151 thousand euros.
During the visit of the Mayor of Famalicão, the state of the public roads was also analysed and, as usual, a meeting was held with the community, at the headquarters of the Parish Council, having been discussed issues such as the preservation of the riverside area, the increase in demand, at the level of sports practice, and the improvement of conditions for dynamic associations and social support.
After the visit to the parish of Bairro, Mário Passos has no doubts, "we are facing a territory that is developing at a fast pace".
It should be remembered that the Roadmap of Presidency of Proximity an exercise of open and inclusive municipal management, based on a philosophy of presidency 'beyond doors', in which the Mayor closely monitors ongoing projects, seeking, on the ground, opinions and contributions from the population, always accompanied by the executive of the parish council, with whom he exchanges impressions and projects interventions.
