Samuel is found dead after falling from the balcony of his house in the French Alps, where he lived with his wife Sandra, a famous German writer, and Daniel, their eleven-year-old son. When the authorities arrive to take charge of the incident, the question arises: was it an accident, suicide or murder? After some inconsistencies in her testimony, Sandra becomes a murder suspect, something that is aggravated when Daniel mentions recent arguments between the couple. During the investigation and later in the lengthy court case, their marriage is scrutinised down to the smallest detail, with Daniel pressured to describe his parents' relationship. This will inevitably create tension in the relationship between mother and son. Winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 and considered the best film by the European Film Academy, "Anatomy of a Fall" is nominated for 11 Césars and five Hollywood Academy Awards, including best film, director and lead actress.
