Édouard Louis returns to the place where he was born to visit his father: a town in one of the poorest regions of France. In the paternal house, what was once a man who expressed his virility through violence and who oppressed his intelligent and docile son, finds a body in his fifties, who can barely walk and breathe.
Who murdered my father is a moving account of the reunion between the author and his father, the recollection of a childhood characterised by pain and damaged by poverty, shame and homophobia, and the indictment of political power for its abandonment of the lower classes of society.
