‘Caminhos de Ferro - Olhares Gráficos’ (Railways - Graphic Perspectives) is the title of the exhibition that aims to pay tribute to the imaginary force linked to the train and its power to share stories between generations. But it also celebrates the 150th anniversary of the inauguration of the Minho Line between Porto and Braga. And, last but not least, it marks the 200th anniversary of the world's first train journey.
The authors, Martine Courtet da Silva and Aurélio Lopes da Silva, live in Clermont-Ferrand. Both are members of the Urban Sketchers communities in that city and in Porto. She is a native of the Auvergne region and he, from Famalicão, was born in Santa Catarina, Cabeçudos. But there is a third element that embarked on this adventure, Ricardo Fiúza, who lives in Braga and is a teacher. What they all have in common is their connection to the visual arts, exploring drawing and painting in greater depth. Each watercolour and drawing by these artists reveals their views on railway heritage, but also tells of a strong relationship with the Famalicão area.
