João Domingos BOMTEMPO (1775-1842): Requiem in C minor, Op. 23. In Memory of Camões | Easter Concert
This work, a key piece of Portuguese classicism, recently celebrated the 200th anniversary of its première, which was published in Paris in 1820. João Domingos Bomtempo, who stood out as a composer and as the first Director of the National Conservatory, wrote much instrumental and choral music. This work we propose is an important landmark in the history of 19th century Portuguese music, and is probably the largest of the homonymous works written by W. A. Mozart and H. Berlioz.
