The recognition ceremony took place on Thursday, 23 October, in Paredes, at the national event ‘Green Flag Day - Eco-Schools Award’ and was attended by Hélder Pereira, the municipality's Councillor for the Environment.
In addition, all school groups in Famalicão also won the Eco-Group award, which recognises all the work carried out in the region in terms of the environment, sustainability and active citizenship.
It should be noted that the distinction is awarded by ABAAE – Blue Flag Association for the Environment and Education, which is dedicated to education for sustainable development and the management and recognition of good environmental practices.
Eco-Schools is an Education for Sustainable Development Programme, which aims to create habits of participation and citizenship, with the main objective of finding solutions to improve the quality of life at school and in the community. Developed in Portugal since 1996, the programme is currently implemented in more than 2,000 schools throughout the country, covering all levels of education.
