The Municipality of Famalicão opens the submission period for the Youth Participatory Budget'23 this Wednesday, 20 September, challenging the municipality's young people to submit proposals of a general nature or relating to this year's thematic component, related to the environment and sustainability.
The winning projects - one from the general component and one from the thematic area - will each receive five thousand euros for their realisation, while the runners-up will receive an allocation of one thousand euros.
The Participatory Youth Budget (OPJ) kicks off precisely on the day that the municipality is marking the 10th anniversary of the Youth House. The OPJ aims to encourage the involvement of young people in decision-making processes, "promoting their participation in the definition of public policies suited to their needs and the interests of young people in the municipality, in an exercise of citizenship, valuing transparency in decision-making and enhancing the quality of democracy itself".
The winning projects will be evaluated and voted on by the young people and then implemented by the municipal services in close collaboration with the proposers.
Proposals can be submitted individually or in groups of up to 5 people per group, aged between 15 and 35, who have been residents, workers or students in the municipality of Famalicão for more than a year.
Applications must be submitted by 20 November via email to camaramunicipal@famalicao.pt or in person at the Single Service Desk in the Town Hall.
More information, regulations and forms are available on the Famalicão Youth portal, by calling 252 314 582 and emailing opj@famalicao.pt.
