American sound designer and composer Dean Hurley gained notoriety through his partnership with director David Lynch. Hurley managed Lynch's Asymmetrical Studio for a decade and a half, where he collaborated extensively on the sound and music for several of the filmmaker's film projects, commercials, and music albums. Hurley served as sound and music supervisor on the third season of the acclaimed television series Twin Peaks, which Lynch directed, also contributing original music to the series. Hurley's work wanders between musical composition and atmospheric sound for films. His uniquely experimental approach to sound establishes a tapestry of landscapes that combine loops, samples and recordings in natural and urban environments. In Through This World, Dean Hurley performs in a live show, premiering in Portugal, to reveal his signature sound and the methodologies he uses in the studio, enveloped in a carefully crafted stage setting.
