Book about the plumbing of the East River and the watering of Nine’s veins presented at Engenho

«The plumbing of the East River and the watering of the Nine veins in the 18th and 19th centuries» is the title of the book by Luzia Pinto da Silva which was presented last Saturday, March 5, at the facilities of Engenho - Associação Desenvolvimento Local do Vale do Este, parish of Arnoso Santa Maria. The Councillor of Education and Science, Augusto Lima, the President of the Direction of Engenho, Manuel Augusto de Araújo and the author, Luzia Pinto da Silva, attended the session.

The work is the result of the work developed by the author under the master’s degree in archaeology, at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, in December 2013. The text presented is the result of a work developed over three years, "for which I have obtained invaluable contributions from institutions and individuals who contributed immeasurably to the realization of this study", says Luzia Pinto da Silva in the previous note of the book. "This is the book that, by its nature and scope, will allow a different look with new perspectives that impose on the East Valley, the result of a serious and thorough investigation around the processes and plumbing works of the East River and construction of the Irrigation Canals Nine a unique agricultural hydraulics project/system designed by military engineer Custódio José Gomes de Vilas Boas" highlights Manuel Augusto de Araújo.
