Women's roles are very prominent in Shakespeare's works. Although they are relegated to the background, certainly due to social rather than dramaturgical contingencies, the English author nevertheless shows us how they decisively influence the decisions of men, who assume themselves the centre of decision and power. After all, what does the feminine spirit represent and what is its relevance in Shakespeare's work, and how is it defined in an assumedly masculine context that prevented women themselves from performing on stage? Is it just a counterpoint that allows us to justify the actions of men or, on the other hand, is its praise assumed by the bard as a kind of "escape from censorship" and the political and social contingencies of his time? Using a single actress on stage who presents herself as a female spirit - summoning various characters and personalities - we seek to analyse the question of the presence of women in Shakespearean drama.
