From 28 August to 2 September, the Casa das Artes de Famalicão is organising the 5th edition of JOF – Young Orchestra of Famalicão, a short-term internship/residency and symphony orchestra performance at the Casa das Artes, aimed at young instrumentalists from and/or with pre-university training in Vila Nova de Famalicão. There will be 87 musicians, divided by string instruments (violins, violas, cellos, and double basses), woodwind (flutes, oboes, clarinets, and bassoons), brass (horns, trumpets, tenor trombones, bass trombone and tuba), harp and percussion instruments. The JOF Internship seeks to respond to unique characteristics of the territory of Vila Nova de Famalicão, namely the existence of a strong and dynamic cultural ecosystem associated with specialised artistic education and professional music education, composed of the following entities: CCM - Centro de Cultura Musical, ArtEduca - Conservatório de Música de Vila Nova de Famalicão and ARTAVE - Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave. Many of these students from the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão have pursued studies and professional careers in other institutions in Portugal and Europe.
