The project Raízes aims to revive regional popular songs passed down through generations. Through active collaboration between two major artistic genres alive in the territory of Vila Nova de Famalicão - Portuguese traditional music and classical music - the project seeks to collect and transcribe local popular songs, for instrumental ensemble and voice, involving young instrumentalists whose studies were done in the municipality of Famalicão and members of the local community of Vale do Ave.
This project is funded by the Programa Há Cultura 2023-2025 of Famalicão City Hall in coproduction with Teatro Narciso Ferreira and aims to build annual artistic co-creation projects between the entities of the Performing Arts Platform Sobre o Palco and the local community.
