Country of origin: USA, 2020 | Directed by: Chloé Zhao | Cast: Frances McDormand, David Strathairn, Linda May, Angela Reyes, Patricia Grier | Rating: M/12 | Running time: 105 min

After decades working for a construction materials company, 60-year-old Fern is laid off. With nothing to tie her to the small Nevada town where she and her late husband have always lived, she decides to sell all her possessions and hit the road. Along the way, she meets up with nomads like herself, who teach her various survival techniques and whose friendship and generosity will change the way she sees the world. Starring Frances McDormand, this dramatic film is based on "Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century" (2017), an autobiographical book in which Jessica Bruder tells her story. McDormand co-starred with actor David Strathair as well as Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells, three real-life nomads who play themselves. Winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, the film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress.
