António Reis' last film, completed about two years before his death, was once again a joint effort with Margarida Cordeiro. Once again, it is a pilgrimage through Portugal, as a place of myth and as a mythical place. It is also a pilgrimage between the ‘initial twilight of history’ and the ‘final dawn’, in a circle that is, like the sand rose, one of his most constant metaphors. It is also a pilgrimage between medieval visions (the most unforgettable being the trial and execution of a pig, based on a real event) and Carl Sagan's visions of the future.
