About 139 students from the 3rd and 4th grades of the Pedome School Grouping will take the stage at Narciso Ferreira Theatre on June 17, under the scope of "Swallows", a co-creation cultural project developed in the school year 2021/2022 within the scope of Há Cultura | Cultura Para Todos and under the artistic direction of the famalicense theatre company Momento - Artistas Independentes.
Divided into two theatrical performances - the first at 18h30 and the second at 21h30 -, which will feature students from the schools of Oliveira S. Mateus, Castelões and Riba de Ave, the performance work to be presented is described as "a set of recorded memories of children that translate into a naive journey on the wings of a swallow in its migratory cycle", denoting the exploratory work developed with children and teachers.
The project is based on the essence of theatre and all that comes from it, such as the work and understanding of emotions, the concepts of freedom and personal limits, the power of imagination and creation, among others. Its main objectives were to stimulate the imagination and creativity of children and to reduce the inequalities that appear at these ages, as well as the first signs of variations in self-esteem and shyness.
With direction by Diogo Freitas and dramaturgy by Filipe Gouveia, "Swallows" "comes to us in spring, passing through all the other seasons. It is a text about freedom, about sensations and about memories - the ones we have and the ones we will still create", it is possible to read in the synopsis.
The initiative, part of the project Há Cultura | Cultura Para Todos, promoted by the City Council of Vila Nova de Famalicão and co-financed by North 2020, through the European Social Fund (ESF), resulted from a work of artistic empowerment developed by Momento with the teaching staff and the student community, started in October last year, which included workshops for both parties, as well as the construction of the show.
Entrance to the shows is free of charge, but requires previous collection of tickets at the ticket office of Narciso Ferreira Theatre in Riba de Ave. For more information, contact: tnf@famalicao.pt.
