Steeltrax, a company dedicated to the manufacturing of metal structures and sections specifically targeted to the renewable energy market, will be installed in Vila Nova de Famalicão, more precisely in the parish of Vilarinho das Cambas. The new unit, with about 6000 m2 and an investment of more than 7 million euros, will also be the new head office of the company, until now operating in the municipality of Póvoa do Varzim.
The construction work has a one-year execution deadline and Steeltrax expects to start production in Famalicão already in March next year.
The construction of the new unit in Zona Industrial Terra Negra III foresees the creation of 11 new "highly qualified" jobs, in order to respond to the company's claim of "investing strongly in research and development (R&D), as well as in the close relationship with universities and scientific research institutes, to enhance knowledge and product development".
The move to Vila Nova de Famalicão is also justified by the capacity that the new unit will provide in terms of the increase of production, the improvement of logistics, the privileged access to the export communication routes - a criterion increasingly valued by those who seek, in addition to quality, a greater ability to meet delivery deadlines.
The installation of this company in the famalicense municipality will have the support of the Town Hall, through the Made 2IN program, which supports the attraction and settlement of companies in the municipality, with a reduction of the licensing and construction taxes.
"The dimension of Created IN Famalicão is also materialized with the attraction of companies with this profile of openness to research and development of new products, to our territory. Hence the manifestation of municipal interest in this investment" says the Mayor, Mário Passos.
It is recalled that in yesterday's Town Hall Meeting, January 26, it was approved the opening of the application period to the Municipal Programme of Financial Support to Research Scholarships, a unique measure, in the municipal scope, to promote business innovation through the development of Research and Innovation (R&I) activities and their transfer to the county's industry, which provides for the award of five prizes to research scholarships worth 5,000€ each.
