The community of Seide S. Paio, in Vila Nova de Famalicão, gained a new space of faith, conviviality and get-together. The parish applauded last Friday, June 17, the requalification of the Largo da Nossa Senhora do Parto, which is now a "beautiful, multifaceted and multipurpose" space available to the entire population.
The renovation of the square was attended by the Mayor, Mário Passos, who also presided over the inauguration of the requalification of the Parish Residence.
"Two good examples of public investment that meets the needs of the population. Seide São Paio won a new multipurpose space, of get-together, which fulfils several objectives beyond the most obvious, of spiritual dimension", said the mayor.
The moment marked the festivities in honour of Nossa Senhora do Parto that took place during the weekend in the parish.
The president of the Union of Parishes of Seide, Tomás Sousa, was also a man naturally pleased with the moment experienced. "I hope that now everyone can enjoy this place. That they can socialise and make this space their home", he said.
It should be noted that the work received municipal support of 71 thousand euros. The works consisted, among others, in the lifting of the existing pavement, in the execution of a stage with stone pavement, in the construction of a support building constituted by two bathrooms, a space destined to a café/bar and an esplanade and in the execution of pedestrian access areas.
The requalification of the Parish Residence, whose works counted with a municipal support of 20 thousand euros, implied, among other works, the execution of a new roof, new window frames, painting, the reorganization of the involving space and the interior space for five catechism rooms, storage house, an auditorium/lounge, kitchen.
