Measures to preserve the rivers and support the construction of an ATM structure in Cavalões with all safety conditions, were the guarantees left yesterday, May 10, by the Mayor, Mário Passos, who, together with the executive of the Parish Union, led by Manuel Novais, visited Gondifelos, Cavalões and Outiz in the Presidency of Proximity tour.
"We are channelling efforts to look after our rivers and make up for tree losses" says Mário Passos. "More than just cleaning rivers, their banks and forest areas, we are facing the need to raise people's awareness to preserve and watch over these places, particularly riverside areas, namely by recovering the figure of the "Riverkeeper", highlights the mayor.
Regarding the relocation of the Cavalões ATM, located at the headquarters of the Parish Council, but which lacks safety conditions, in response to the concerns of the local population that values the proximity of this service, the mayor clarified that the City Hall will support the construction of the structure as defined by the competent authorities. The ATM will remain in the vicinity of the headquarters of the Parish Council and will involve a financial support of around € 15,000.
During the field visit, the Mayor and the Parish team also verified situations related to the maintenance and paving of streets, the reinforcement of public lighting, the possible rehabilitation of the Outiz kindergarten and the creation of a new playground in Cavalões, in agreement with the parish's sports group.
In the Gondifelos Leisure Park, the Mayor met with almost fifty representatives of associations, companies and informal groups of the three parishes of the Union, where issues such as the extension of the gas network, the reinforcement of public transport and concerns related with illegal discharges in the rivers and the need to clean and preserve them were exposed.
The Mayor continues his tour of the parishes of the municipality, in a programme that aims to bring citizens closer to the leader of the executive, in a philosophy of presidency "beyond doors", seeking opinions and contributions from the population, in an exercise of open and inclusive municipal management.
