Ki-taek has a close-knit family, but they are all unemployed and their future prospects are bleak. His son Ki-woo is recommended by a friend - who attends a prestigious university - to tutor for good money, which sparks the hope of a regular income in the family. Bearing the family's expectations, Ki-woo goes to Park's house for a job interview. When he arrives at the home of Mr Park - owner of a global computer technology company - Ki-woo meets Yeon-kyo, the beautiful young owner of the house.
