The City Council of Vila Nova de Famalicão will launch a Public Acquisition Offer procedure, in the value of 10.5 million euros, for the purchase of 79 properties destined for lease in the scope of the 1st Direito Programme.
With this proposal, which will be under analysis in the executive meeting tomorrow, Thursday, January 26, the municipality led by Mário Passos speeds up the start of the execution of the Access to Housing Support Programme, signed in partnership with the Housing and Urban Rehabilitation Institute (IHRU) and that, in total, channels 62 million Euros to improve the habitability conditions of over 800 families of the municipality.
The Public Offer launched by the famalicense municipality foresees the acquisition of 9 housing units already built (4 of the type T2 and 5 of the type T3), in good conservation conditions and ready to live in, without the need for previous rehabilitation works, and 70 units to be built or under construction (8 one bedroom units, 21 of the type T2, 35 T3 and 6 of the type T4). All dwellings will be destined for the beneficiaries of the 1st Direito Program/Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
For the Mayor, housing is currently one of the great challenges of the county and the country. "This is a structural problem that deserves a solid and strong response from us and this Takeover Bid is a small big step we are taking in that direction. Our housing stock is insufficient for the demand, the rental and purchase value is very high and we know that this has been a hindrance for many people, especially for young people who cannot achieve their life projects," said Mário Passos.
According to the notice, for the purposes of determining the price to be paid for the acquisition of the proposed dwellings, the Municipality will consider the product of the respective gross areas foreseen by the last median value of sales per square meter of new family dwellings, per municipality, published by INE.
Natural or legal persons, under public or private law, may submit proposals for the sale of dwellings. The proposals may be submitted in the online portal of the municipality, at www.famalicao.pt, and the deadline for its submission ends at 17h00 of the 30th day after the publication of the notice.
It is worth recollecting that Vila Nova de Famalicão City Hall has 62 million euros to invest during six years in the improvement of the municipality's housing park, under the scope of the collaboration agreement signed last October with the Housing and Urban Rehabilitation Institute (IHRU) for the execution of the 1st Direito. The agreement signed will allow the improvement of the habitability conditions of over 800 families in the municipality. The support will allow financing, at 100%, housing solutions for 817 households in the municipality, corresponding to 2947 people, who do not have the financial capacity to bear the cost of access to adequate housing and who are already signalled in the diagnosis of the Local Housing Strategy as potential candidates for the 1st Direito.
