The ephemeris of the World Music Day is marked in Vila Nova de Famalicão, on October 1 and 2, with three shows, at Casa das Artes and at Teatro Narciso Ferreira (TNF).
Domitila, a mini-opera in one act, by João Guilherme Ripper (music and libretto) based on the letters of D. Pedro I and the Marquesa de Santos, is the show that opens the celebrations, on Saturday, 1st of October, at 21h30, in the Grand Auditorium of Casa das Artes de Famalicão.
For about one hour, soprano Sara Braga Simões, accompanied by Ricardo Alves (clarinet), Burak Ozkan (cello) and Christina Margotto (piano), will give body to the staging conceived by Pedro Ribeiro. Production Mestres Viajantes and co-production Casa das Artes.
On the same October 1, at 21h30, also the TNF, in Riba de Ave, presents Duo Arsis, a guitar duet founded in December 2016, composed of Nuno Jesus (Portalegre) and João Robim (Famalicão), which began at the University of Évora.
The programme includes the interpretation of pieces by T. Hamasyan, J. S. Bach, T. Quintas; C. Debussy, M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco and F. Chopin.
Entrance to this performance is free until the capacity of the hall, with previous ticket withdrawal at the TNF box office, one hour and a half before the beginning of the performance.
On the 2nd, Sunday, at 11h30, the celebrations continue at Casa das Artes de Famalicão with the Concerts for Families 202, in the 5th Promenade Concert Cycle. The show focuses on the theme: Dance in Portuguese Music, with ARTEAM - Escola Profissional Artística do Alto Minho (Viana do Castelo).
The 2022 Concerts for Families adopt the format of the Promenade Concerts, from May to December, on Sunday mornings, in which great music, played by the Orchestras of the Professional Schools, and explained with multimedia interaction, is enjoyed by all ages in a relaxed atmosphere of great artistic quality.
