Do you know what David Fonseca, Soraia Chaves, Tiago Bettencourt and Joaquim de Almeida have in common? The Ymotion - Famalicão Young Film Festival! They will all be present in the main week of the festival that takes place from November 21st to 26th in Casa da Juventude, Centro de Estudos Camilianos in Seide, Casa das Artes de Vila Nova de Famalicão and Fundação Castro Alves in Bairro with free entrance.
This year, the closing night of the 8th edition of Ymotion, on November 26, will start with the performance of the musician and film buff, David Fonseca, from 21h30, at Centro de Estudos Camilianos, who will present songs from his latest album, 'Living Room Bohemian Apocalypse', released last June. This evening will also include a tribute to the actress Soraia Chaves, whose film debut dates back to 2005 in the role of 'Amélia', the main character in the film 'O Crime do Padre Amaro' (2005).
Besides these moments, on the closing night of the festival, the Ymotion short film competition awards will also be delivered to young Portuguese directors, with highlight to the 'Joaquim de Almeida Grand Prize'. Around 40 short films are in competition, which will be screened from 21 to 24 November, in two daily sessions, at 15h00 and 21h30, at the Youth House, culminating with the award ceremony on 26 November.
Also on November 26, the musician and filmmaker, Tiago Bettencourt, will present, first-hand, the first images of the film 'Tiago Bettencourt - O Outro Lado do Eclipse', a musical object made by the musician himself about the impact that the pandemic had on his career. The presentation will take place at Castro Alves Foundation, at 17h00.
Another highlight of the festival's main week will be the premiere of director Leonel Vieira's new film, 'O Último Animal' (2022), starring Joaquim de Almeida, scheduled for November 25, at 9:30 p.m., at Casa das Artes de Famalicão, with the presence of the actor.
Even before this premiere, at Centro de Estudos Camilianos, at 15h00, 'Novíssimo Cinema Português' will be presented, which will deal with casting in Portuguese cinema, and will have the presence of the actress Beatriz Godinho, leading role in the series 'Cuba Libre' (2022), and Carla Quelhas, agent of the actors department of Elite, who will talk with the festival commissioner, Rui Pedro Tendinha.
It should be recalled that YMotion is a festival organised by Vila Nova de Famalicão Town Hall since 2015, which has established itself on the circuit of film shows and festivals in the country, serving as a lever for the work of young filmmakers aged 12 to 35. In the 2021 edition, the competition received more than 250 short films, and the 'Joaquim de Almeida Grand Prize' was awarded to director Pedro Peralta for his film 'Perpetual Night' (2020).
