The municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão gained this weekend a new space for cultural and artistic creation.
The Casa do Artista Amador, in Louro, opened its doors this Sunday, October 2, and is one more piece of equipment at the service of cultural decentralisation and democratisation in the municipality.
The space, which is also the headquarters of the association that promotes the Laurus Nobilis festival, the Ecos Cultural Association of Louro, is the result of the requalification of the old primary school of Gandra, a project that received municipal support of about 77 thousand euros.
"A long-time dream now realized thanks to the tireless efforts of the City Hall, the Parish Council, the associates and many companies of the county", thanked the responsible of the association, José Aguiar, who also added,
"this space is now open to all those who need a place to produce and exhibit their art".
At the inauguration of the Amateur Artist's House, which took place yesterday late morning, Mário Passos praised the persistence and proactivity of the Louro Cultural Echoes Association. The Mayor believes that
"the famalicense culture has gained a new stage of excellence, at the same time that a new life has been given to an old school building in the parish".
In terms of programming, the enthusiasm around the project is already evident. October marks the start of a diversified cultural programme for all tastes at the Casa do Artista Amador, which this month alone counts about 25 initiatives, including concerts, exhibitions, and lectures, among others.
